BORDC Action Alert
Constitution Day (9/17) mandate for schools with gov't funding
August 18, 2005
Friends,
September 17 is Constitution Day and, for the first time, all schools
that receive government funding must offer a program to their students
that pertains to the Constitution. If you know local educators, this
is an opportunity for you to help them find resources about the Constitution,
Bill of Rights, and threats to civil liberties.
It is also a good time to organize events for nonstudents in the community.
Go to http://bordc.org/resources/constitutionday.php
for more information about Constitution Day, suggestions for engaging
community members of all ages, and links to resources (including lesson
plans and cirriculum guides for K-12 educators).
Please let us know of your success stories and any additional resources,
so we can share them with others in the future.
