- Reinforce, in communities, in the press, and in Congress, the magnitude of debate and discontent with the laws and policies in question.
- Justify our complaints where possible with stories of real people, especially local ones.
- Show the diversity of voices demanding change: political persuasions, religious affiliations, ethnic groups, and more.
- Demonstrate some nationwide consensus.
- Awaken those still unaware, and inspire them to question what they've been told by the administration.
- Build upon the momentum of the resolutions movement.
- Connect the congressional debate with the community debate.
- Expand the debate about the USA PATRIOT Act to include the various post-9/11 laws and policies that threaten civil liberties.
